Relocating to Raleigh Area. Part 1.

What does a week of home hunting in the Raleigh/Durham area look for someone relocating? Well with a HomeDipity! agent it looks like this:

First you tell us what you are looking for in home and lifestyle. Kids? What do they do, schools? Downtown, Mid-Town, around town?

Should you stay at the Umstead, The Durham or The Sienna? Ask us, we can give you the 411. Dinner reservations? Heck yes! Our area has some of the best chef owned restaurants in the country (many James Beard winners and nominees). Want the inside story, of course you do.

For one of clients it looked like this. There interests: 20-25 commute, recreation, move in ready, "drop the mic" features.

Day One: The hunt begins.

North Raleigh: Tour of existing and new build homes, with background on both builders and brand developments. (We have the background and data to suggest which ones perform better) A lot of getting to know the details of your needs (community pool? swim team for kids? walking trails? desired commute time?)

Toured 12 homes.

Found dream home, over price considering it, drive around neighborhood, spot bamboo on lot next door (extremely invasive) notice it is sprouting all over back yard of desire home.

Tour of shopping areas, what does your day look like?

Maps and times to office, schools, Whole Foods.

Explanation of Creedmore, Six Forks, Falls of Neuse and Capital, what is ITB and secrets of the outer belt line.

Great meal at Mandolin, in Five Points for local flavor.

Day Two:

Cary tour: Preston, Montvale, Copperleaf with history and details.

Look at house you don't want to enter because you trust agent, fall in love with home. Perfect home for the way you live, "we can walk to the trail", "perfect music room", "the landscaping is beautiful".

After Action Review at Bond Brothers in Downtown Cary.

Dinner at Herons.

Day Three:

Second and thorough tour of homes of interest. Go over offer strategy, further explanation of process in North Carolina, prepare and submit offer.

Exhausted: Cancel Reservations at Vivace, have early dinner of Osso Bucco at Pro-Epicurean in downtown Cary on way back to Umstead.

Day Four: Fly home with an amazing new home, in the perfect location, at a better than expected price.
